Welcome to 6th Grade Reading/ELA!

I am Mrs. Sue Gramling and I am delighted to be teaching your child! This is my fifth year to teach at Krum Middle School. I have taught at Dodd Intermediate and 20 years prior to that teaching at Hodge Elementary in Denton. I am a product of KISD. I was born and raised here and graduated from TWU. I have been married for 29 years and I have 3 wonderful daughters. My oldest recently graduated from A&M in College Station and my middle daughter will graduate from there in December. My youngest daughter is in 9th grade. I love to read and hope to pass the love of reading on to your child. My email address is sue.gramling@krumisd.net. Please do not hesitate to contact me if the need arises.

Homework Policy

Homework will consist of any classwork that your child did not finish during the class. If your child uses his/her time wisely, they will be able to finish the majority of their work in class. Homework is due at the beginning of class the next day.

Morning Tutorials

I am available each morning from 7:45-8:10 to assist your child on any Reading assignments or if they are needing to read a story out of our reader, or if they just need a quiet place to come to work. If your child's name is on the list it is required that they attend.

Correction Policy

If your child scores below a 70 on ANY assignment, they are given the opportunity to correct the assignment for a 70. This does not include end of 9 week's tests. I hand back graded papers frequently and allow time for them to correct their assignments. Please check Parent Portal frequently. I do not give extra credit assignments.

Library Visits

We go to the library every other Wednesday. Your child is expected to have their library books from the previous library visit. They will return their books, select new ones, check them out, and spend the remainder of the period reading silently. Students are given a participation grade for this. A great opportunity to receive a 100!!
